4KAVE
The 4K Automatic Virtual Environment (4KAVE) is a hybrid of TourCAVE and WAVElet technology, and explores the possibilities of ultra-high resolution, personal VR environments. It combines three, 4K (3,840 × 2,160) pixels resolution, passive stereo display tiles in portrait orientation, creating a high-resolution, high-contrast setting. The outer tiles are turned towards the viewer for enhanced immersion and stereo retention. 4KAVE allows users
The 4KAVE is powered by a single node with dual graphics cards and 40 Gbps network interconnect. A light-based tracking system is used for head, interaction tracking.
The 4KAVE hardware design as well as its open-source software stacks, CalVR and CGLX, were entirely developed in-house.
