The ParaDrone is an autonomous self-propelled paraglider and belongs into the category of foldable wing platforms. Its parafoil can be easily collapsed (folded) for transport and swiftly deployed in the field, while creating the lift needed to carry sizeable payloads over long durations and distances. By design, the parafoil also doubles as a full platform rescue system. Our team is developing the ParaDrone with a broad range of applications in mind, ranging from exploration, and environmental monitoring to post-disaster reconnaissance.
This platform is also serving as an innovation driver for layered manufacturing techniques. Its 3D printed/printable airframe, enables rapid exploration and prototyping of different design strategies and use scenarios.
